Chief of Police Haki Kako said today that 219 hectares of marijuana plants were dug out since June, which is four times more than last year.
He said that 248 individuals were arrested for marijuana production that was meant to be distributed to Italy, Greece, Kosovo and Montenegro.
Albania was a leading producer of cannabis in Europe until three years ago. The Government than decided to make it its priority to stop this market.
