“We were informed on Tuesday that the investor completed the installation of all 26 wind turbines on the Krnovo hill and that the testing was ongoing”, the Ministry of Economy told Pobjeda newspaper.

The ministry added that according to the contract, the investor is obliged to enable the wind farm on Krnovo to be operable and connected to the electricity system by 7 May next year.

The wind farm is expected to generate 200–230GWh of electricity a year.

The wind turbines have been installed at about 1,500 meters above sea level where the average wind speed is estimated at about 5.5 to 6.5 meters per second. Completion of their construction will contribute to achieving the national target of a 33% share of renewable energy in final consumption.

According to the contract, for the first 12 years of operation the guaranteed purchase price of electricity generated by the wind farm cannot be lower than €95.99 per MWh.

The wind farm on the Krnovo hill represent the first large investment in electric power capacities in Montenegro since 1980.
