He said that “opposition ministers” are in serious trouble because there is an open pressure from the opposition public to uncover mechanisms of the abuse of public resources.
“When it’s discovered that there is no evidence for malversations and when parties whose ministers are in the government become aware of the ratings, in my opinion they will rather choose to exit the government than to remain in the government and legitimize the elections”, said Besic.
From the aspect of technocratic operativity, Besic said that opposition’s ministers have done a decent job in the government so far, not much differently from the work that was done by DPS ministers.
“However, from the aspect of the opposition public, they didn’t uncover any mechanisms of electoral malversations that the public expected them to. So, on one side they showed that they’re not any worse than “DPS” ministers, but on the other side they showed that they’re not any better than “DPS” ministers. I’m afriad that opposition public will be the first to judge them”, he emphasized.
He thinks that the government of electoral trust won’t last until the end of its mandate.
“But this depends on several factors. Key reasn why I think it won’t is precisely in what I previously said, and that is that they haven’t found any proof of malversations so far, and that is something that they’re expected to do. More precisely, when it’s discovered that there is no evidence for malversations and when parties whose ministers are in the government become aware of the ratings, in my opinion they will rather choose to exit the government in order to delegitimize the regularity of the elections, than to remain in the government and give legitimacy to the elections”, explained Besic.
