Bojovic: Protest organizers are the worst of Montenegrin opposition

“Their organizers are, in my opinion, the worst part of Montenegrin opposition – the part whose main political message is reduced to basic populism, social demagoguery and policy best described as great-Serbian-pro-Putin”, Bojovic said for Radio Free Europe.

He believes that at this point, Montenegrin government has a chance to finally come to its senses, to start acting in a manner which will not only give Montenegro a way out of political crisis, but also further democratic progress and development, bearing in mind the fact that we are candidate country for EU and NATO membership.

Yesterday’s proposal of URA, Demos and the Democrats on urgent dialogue with leaders of relevant parties, said Bojovic, is the most reasonable and the most acceptable political idea, and added that Montenegro needs peace, stability and political dialogue.

“We need both institutional and non-institutional discussions which should ultimately lead to fair elections, or else the opposition has no reason to participate in these elections”, said Bojovic.

Bojovic has no doubt that the joint proposal is the most reasonable and the most acceptable political idea:

“The rest of the opposition needs to determine themselves; I think the time that is upon us will very quickly show the extent to which they would find it acceptable”, he said.

After URA, Demos and Democratic Montenegro yesterday jointly announced that Montenegro needs an urgent dialogue, calling leaders of relevant political subjects to an atmosphere of subdued rhetoric and to an agreement on conditions for organizing the first fair and free elections, the DF assessed that these parties in fact supported the protests scheduled for October 24th.

The Coordination Committee of URA held a seesion on Wednesday to express understanding for the discontent of citizens, but said Montenegro needs peaceful changes which reflect its civic and European values.

In case the ruling party, DPS, does not want to talk, URA, Demos and the Democrats said, then there’ll be no other choice but to protest.
