British Standard: 10 reasons why you should visit Montenegro in 2016

Don’t be fooled by its traditional nickname ‘Black Mountain’, because this small but beautiful destination is anything but monochrome. Here, you’ll find colour on every corner, from its rolling fields of Mediterranean blossoms to its crystal-clear coastlines.

Like most under the radar travel destinations, Montenegro has become a firm favourite with in-the-know holidaymakers, who flock here for sunny climates and sandy beaches of Croatia, but without the hordes of tourists.

Most visitors will be drawn to Kotor or the rest of the 300km of serene coast. But Montenegro is, surprisingly, only half the size of Wales, so exploring its wealth of mountains and canyons is not difficult.
