This, he claims, is the first project which combines the luxury and eco-tourism in this part of Europe. It is located exactly at the mouth of the river Crnojevica and Skadarsko lake and belongs to the municipality of Cetinje.
Total investment is worth 75 million euros, 45 of which will be invested in the first phase of the project.
“Porto Skadar Lake is located in the National Park Skadar Lake, which is the reason why we waited until now to start the construction. We had to do additional studies on environmental protection before we start”, said Sonigo.
Now, he says, everything is ready. They have the building permit and all necessary paperwork, so the first phase of the hotel complex is expected to be done in two years.
He says he sees it as a mix of New Zealand and Bali, which you can enjoy over the weekend.
“When I first saw the Skadar Lake, I immediately realized that my dream will materialize. I started thinking about the project that would allow as much people as possible to get to know this wonderful place”, said Sonigo.
He stressed that Montenegro has so far managed to protect its natural resources, and that this project will respect that and help maintain the course.
In order to make this place even more magical, he says, this project gathered two world-famous masters of hotelier and spa business: “Small luxury hotel” and “Clarins”. The hotel’s eco-resort, with a total area of 37.500 square meters, will have 52 hotel units, SPA center area of 1.700 square meters, two restaurants, a commercial center, marina and 32 villas, which will be privately owned.
According to the principle of the hotel-villa concept, all owners will be able to rent their villas through the hotel operator which runs the hotel. They will have a minimum of four-star category according to European standards, says the investor.
Sonigo began buying land in 2007 and now owns 120.000 square meters, almost the entire peninsula.
The hotel’s eco-resort on Lake Skadar will be, as he said, finished in 2017 and will be built in phases.
