Obtaining a building permit means the most demanding works on the priority section of the Bar-Boljare highway can start almost immediately. The bridge will be built by the Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), most probably in three shifts, to finish on time.
Moračica bridge will be 960 meters long, and its highest pillar 158 meters high. The bridge is located between Mrka and Klopot tunnels, over the valley of the river, to the opposite hill.
Late last week, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism gave the building permit for the construction of tunnel Vjeternik, which will be built by a Montenegrin construction company, Bemax. The tunnel will be three kilometers long.
These two impressive projects are supposed to serve as an example of modern transport infrastructure in the region, and beyond. Especially when you have in mind that in the 41 kilometer of this section of the highway, elevation varies from 63 meters to over 1,100 meters.
Projected speed on the first section of the highway is 100 km/h, making travel time between Podgorica and Kolasin shrink to just 25 minutes, from the current hour and 30 minutes.
Work officially began on May 11, 2015 and will be completed by May 11, 2019.
