The head of the Directorate General for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Snezana Radovic, explained that contribution represented the basis for the development of the EC Progress Report.
She called in mind that this was not the only source of information for the preparation of the progress reports, since the EC also collected data from diplomatic and consular missions of the member states, the EU Delegation in Podgorica, civil society, as well as from international organisations’ reports.
“In this contribution, we presented the most important activities implemented in the past seven months, from 1 September 2015 to 20 May 2016”, Radovic said after the government’s session.
As she said, the contribution is mainly based on reporting on the adopted laws, the activities implemented by relevant institutions and the progress for all 33 chapters related to meeting the initial or final criteria, in order for the European integration process to be continued on planned dynamics.
Asked how much the fact that there is no foreign minister in the government for some time may impede the process of negotiations, Radovic said that all the other official s in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration are doing their job as they did before the minister resigned.
When it comes to the work relating to European integration, she said that the scheme was established and that the negotiation structure was compact and firm.
“It is very easy to go through the process, since we have clearly established a system of coordination and the chief negotiator is in charge of European integration. Therefore, in the part of European affairs and the negotiation process, there are no problems felt in the work and functioning of the negotiation structures and the accession process as a whole”, said Radovic.
She said that in the part of the political criteria, the contribution contained information that the Parliament passed 34 laws, the lex specialis, decided on the dismissal of the former Parliament speaker and appointed ministers and deputy prime ministers.
The contribution also contains information relating to the economic criteria, such as those on employment, industrial production, tourism, banking system, the annual inflation rate etc.
