Dogus Group: Budva deserves a modern marina

Baykan leads the Montenegin team, which also includes the coordinator of Budva marina, Selcuk Balci, Pobjeda daily carried.

Dogus Group owns two marinas in Zadar and one in Sibenik. It also has four marinas in Greece and three in Turkey. Last year, Dogus Group signed a contract with Stratex Group to run the Budva marina.

Baykan said to the Dogus group was very interested in participating in the tender for the concession of Budva marina, which is to be called next year.

If Stratex and Dogus Group win the tender, they plan to invest €30m for a 30-year concession.

The mayor of Sibenik, Zeljko Buric, said that tourism development in the town began when Dogus Group invested €300m in Croatia.

“Sibenik was not recognised as a tourist destination until six years ago. Then the Dogus Group took over the Mandalina marina, which became the first Croatian marina for megayachts”, Buric explained.

There are 429 sea berths and 50 dry berths in the Mandalina marina. Last year a new four-star was opened. The construction of the hotel cost €25m.
