Dragan Adžić stepped down as women’s national handball team coach

After six great years, Adžić decided to leave the national team of Montenegro.

He confirmed it to the press after losing to Brazil in the last match of the group.

Montenegro did not do well in these Games, we had no victories, and Adžić said it is time for change.

-Six years and a few months I have lead this team with pride and pleasures. We managed to lead the team to participate in nine competitions during this time. Along with Spain, France and Norway, we are the only team to participate in all nine championships – Adžić said.

He said he was sorry they were not able to deliver better results in Rio.

-I am sorry I could not give more to the girls in Rio. The responsibility is mine, I wish the public to remember good moments these girls had because they are deserving of great respect, along with the management of the club – he added.

The Buducnost handball team coach said that he gave his best, but that no one can lead successfully for so long.

-The basis is healthy, and not in my image. We have a lot of good coaches and talent, this generation should carry freshness to the next championship. I believe that most of them will continue to play for Montenegro. I am proud and happy with no regrets, and now I will take care of my health – Adžić concluded.
