Đukanović: EBRD to give more support to Adriatic-Ionian corridor

During his meeting with delegation of Board of Directors of EBRD, lead by Anna Brandt and joined by Heinz Kaufmann, Montenegrin representative in EBRD, Prime Minister said that the improvement of traffic availability will contribute to further improvement of business environment in Montenegro, especially taking into account the influence tourism has on the economy.

Prime Minister expressed his support for the new strategy of EBRD for Montenegro and emphasized the consistency of its goals: expansion of economic base through improving market competitiveness, support to sustainable tourism, infrastructure and environment, support for energetic safety and efficiency and regional integration of the market, with Montenegro’s development goals.

He said that the Government of Montenegro will continue to pay special attention that our fiscal system remains in the greater function of support to business, as a primary goal of economic development.

“Đukanović underlined congruence of EBRD Strategy for Montenegro with Berlin Process goals, that entails infrastructural and traffic connections between countries in the region, as one of the conditions for full EU integration”, it was said in the Government.

Anna Brandt of EBRD congratulated Prime Minister on ten years of independence and expressed support for Montenegro’s role in Berlin Process and regional integrations.

Interlocutors spoke of Montenegro’s integrations in the context of Brexit, and Prime Minister said that EU membership has no alternatives, confirming Montenegro’s belief in the vision of united Europe.

They agreed that investment conferences organized by EBRD are a sign of special attention this bank pays to the region of Western Balkan.
