Đukanović: I will not attend the session, but DPS will

“The public warning given to DF representatives due to the incident that happened on Friday is not an adequate resolution”, Đukanović said commenting on the latest developments in the Parliament.

When asked whether he would come to the Parliament tomorrow, Đukanović responded with: “Of course not”.

He added that the leadership of the Parliament has shown itself as an irresponsible host that failed to protect the integrity of the Government that it invited to participate in the session, Radio Antena M learns.

“I want to confirm that the representatives’ club of DPS will be in the Parliament for the vote, and they will vote for the Government’s suggestion. DPS will not pose an issue when it comes to choosing the structure of the Government”, Đukanović said.

The Prime Minister mentioned that the indications of the incident were know to everyone.

These were not secret information from intelligence services but DF representatives themselves informed the public, when they said in the beginning of May that they would try to take the atmosphere from the streets into the Parliament.

Institution of the Parliament could have been protected from the scene that happened on Friday, the Prime Minister is convinced.

“The lack of adequate reaction from the state after the attempt of state attack on October 24th of last year has directly caused a forceful entry in the Parliament and the violence that transpired during the session. Do we need to warn of great danger for democratic responsibility Montenegrin society is facing today, that is presented by the illusion that there is no authority above you. It has nothing to do with democracy and leads to anarchy, violence, an attempt to gain personal freedom on others’ account. This is why there needs to exist a limiting authority, to everyone from Prime Minister to a regular citizen”, he said.

Đukanović said that it is only logical that months long tensions escalated in this manner.

During the last months we have witnessed serious reconstruction of Montenegro’s political scene.

“The consequence of this reconstruction is that is that the space for DF’s politics has narrowed down, faced with unfavorable circumstances. I believe this is the way for DF to try and strengthen its political and societal influence. It was obvious for anyone with elementary understanding of Montenegro’s political scene, which is why we can not speak of surprises”, Đukanović said.

When asked whether he believes that the political life can return to normal after the latest incident, five months before the elections, Đukanović said he believes it is possible, and that this is the scenario he hopes to achieve.

He expects the points on Lex Specialis and the structure of the new Government could be put on schedule during the next week.

“There should be two points, one after the other, and it is feasible for it to be finalized in the first days of the next week”, he said.

He also said that the new Government of electoral trust is not only an ad hoc project, with a deadline in October, but that it has a potential to become a model of permanent resolution of internal divide in the politics.

“For the last ten years I have been propagating that idea, because I thought that no matter our majority, we are not doing any service to Montenegro by remaining divided. We all carry that responsibility. I am sorry that in this moment due to opposition fights that chance was not recognized and the opposition bloc was not formed, but I am not losing hope. I think that the fact that we have signed a political agreement on a wider scale is a good enough platform to work until the elections, and after them as well”, Đukanović said.
