Đukanović on Ramada affair: They would like a new political and media scandal

Lately, through speeches of representative Mladen Bojanić, the public became privy to the fact that the meeting of Ivan Brajović’s party SD in hotel Ramada was supposedly paid from the funds of Montenegro Railways.

Agency for prevention of corruption dealt with the case, determined to find out whether there was any state resources abuse.

Đukanović spoke on the affair after his lecture at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Podgorica, saying there was no new information in the case, RTCG reports

He repeated his conviction that owners of hotel Ramada were within their rights to do what they did.

“Do you think that it is alright to give information about your business to anyone, because of the needs of any political party? Does this contribute to economy? No”, Đukanović said.

He said he is understanding of hotel Ramada management, and he said he would do the same if such a case occurred in the Government.

“It is unprofessional to give information to the public if you are not told to do so”, he said.

Asked whether whistleblowing is less unprofessional if it pertains to the state budget, he said: “If it is a matter of state budget, then a concerned citizen should notify the institutions, not create a new political and media scandal”.

Ramada affair is being looked into by Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnić.
