National secretary for integrations and chief negotiator ambassador Aleksandar Andrija Pejovic had a meeting in Brussels with future president of an informal group of friends of Montenegro, Croatian parliament member and member of the Alliance of liberals and democrats in European parliament Ivan Jakovcic, and the president of the Working group for Western Balkans Eduard Kukan.
„During the meeting further cooperation and promotion of Montenegro in European parliament was discussed and regarding that a letter from the prime minister Milo Djukanovic was delivered to Mr. Jakovcic by which the initiative for forming the Group of friends of Montenegro in European parliament was accepted”, it was written in the statement.
It also said that the meetings were a chance to make a resume of the results that Montenegro has made in process of accession, as well as for presentation of upcoming obligations and plans.
Regarding this, as it was stated, he said that Montenegro can be the best example to everyone in the region in terms of leading the accession negotiations and implementation of fundamental reforms.
President of the Working group for Western Balkans Eduard Kukan praised the efficiency in implementation of reforms and good tempo of progress towards membership. He emphasized that Montenegro as a country which is the leader in European ntegrations is expected to continue with good results and especially with further reforms in the area of the rule of law, for which we have maximum support of the European parliament.
