Goranovic: Country getting a mechanism for protection of its herritage

Minister of culture Pavle Goranovic said for Dnevne novine that the Draft of the law for freedom of religion he sees as a strong mechanism for preserving and protection of Montenegrin cultural herritage whose adoption will set up additional control mechanism of the country over until now insufficiently protected properties.

Minister of culture emphasized that he sees the Draft in a context of positive legal treatment of cultural herritage.

According to him considering the fact that the current Law for protection of cultural property defines key aspects of this protection, the new law for freedom of religion will create an additional monitoring system of the country over the property that wasn’t sufficiently protected so far.

„This will, among other things, create conditions for monitoring the condition and preserving the non-valorized part of cultural herritage”, said Goranovic.

Minister has no dillemas on how we hould protect our cultural treasure and what are the obligations of owners or holders.

Public discussion on the Draft ended on 30th of September. It was planned to last until 14th of September, but the Government extended the deadline in order to leave enough time for submitting suggestions, objections or proposals of all interested parties regarding the text of this regulation so it is in accordance with European standards and Montenegrin specifics.
