Ipsos: For joining the NATO is 56 percent of citizens

If a referendum would be held October, 75 percent of the voters in Montenegro would go out and vote.

Research of Ipsos strategic marketing that Pobjeda had an insight in was done in the period between 8th and 16th of October on a sample of 1.015 adult citizens of Montenegro.

The aforementioned percentages regarding the referendum are based on the voters who have a clear choice. Asked how would they vote if the voting for Montenegro joining the NATO happened that week, 42 percent of the people said that they would vote for, 33 percent would be against while 20 percent wouldn’t vote.

Marko Uljarevic from Ipsos strategic marketing said that the number of those who support NATO in October is better than the average in last sixteen months, and that it is similar to the level of support registered in February and March of 2014.

According to him if we observe political choice, supporters of DPS, URA and SDP, Pozitivna Montenegro and many smaller political parties and minority parties are decisively for joining the NATO. On the other hand supporters of Democratic front, SNP, Demos and Democratic Montenegro are decisively against it.

„It is interesting that on an eventual referendum for joining the Alliance, at this moment voter turnout would be higher then on parliamentary elections. Namely, a little less than two thirds of the voters would vote on parliamentary elections”, said Uljarevic.
