Opposition to propose a platform for overcoming the crisis

The opposition should jointly define its conditions for holding early elections and come up with a platform to overcome the crisis, said the URA Civic Movement MP Nedjeljko Rudovic.

“The platform should include the opposition’s common objectives, not the topics that divide us and contribute to deepening divisions in the country,” Rudovic told MINA news agency.

He believes that the opposition should jointly define their conditions for holding early elections and, as he said, force the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) to accept them.

Rudović said that he hoped the opposition would start working on defining these conditions soon and that the URA would give the maximum contribution to resolving the political crisis in a democratic and civilized manner.

“Since DPS resorted to fraud political violence when it achieved agreement on free elections with the opposition last year, I consider that the terms of a possible agreement should be much stricter than they were then. Obviously their word and signature do not mean much and the opposition should have that in mind,” said Rudovic.

He noted that the task of responsible politicians to do all they can to solve any crisis through agreement and to avoid any tensions and conflicts.

Rudovic added that it is in the interests of all entities, but the problem is that in the political sense DPS does not allow fruitful dialogue, trying to stay in power at all costs.

“They pretend to be open and willing to make compromise, while putting their hands on everything they can behind the scenes, holding Montenegro as a hostage of goals of their leaders and domestic and foreign oligarchs close to them,” said Rudovic.

According to him, therefore DPS “produced a state of emergency on the election day in order to forge citizens’ will and to continue to usurp power”.

“We do not agree to have a role in the theatre of the absurd directed by DPS. Therefore, there are no negotiations with them until we find out who is responsible for the state of emergency on the election day and until they accept repeating elections that were held 16 October, ie to conduct early elections,” Rudovic said.
