Pejović–Brumeaux: Summit in Paris a recognition for European perspective of Western Balkan

Brumeaux said that Paris Summit demonstrated EU’s dedication to continue with expansion politics and reminded that European perspective of Western Balkan is important in order to keep stability and safety, as well as progress of the region.

She also underscored words from the Summit, reminding that Brexit did not influence other 27 members, and that expansion will continue, which was demonstrated by a conference when Montenegro and Turkey opened new chapters in negotiations. By the end of July, Serbia will also open new chapters in the area of rule of law. It is a big encouragement and incentive for the region to continue approaching European values and life standard.

Pejović said that Paris Summit had equal value for EU as well as Western Balkan. It demonstrated the strength and dedication of EU to keep unity and continue implementing its policies.

„Summit confirmed the European perspective for Western Balkan and dedication of member states to support implementation of necessary reforms, through intensifying regional cooperation and implementing concrete joint initiatives and projects”, he said.

He underscored the importance of investment package in the amount of 450 million EUR, from which 150 million represent EU’s help for development of road and energetics infrastructure.

Interlocutors said that, after the Summit, Western Balkan has an even more defined perspective, better cooperation and partnership in joint goals.
