Pejovic in Paris: Regional economic cooperation precondition for faster EU integration

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro said the meeting in Paris attended by State Secretary for European Integration and Chief Negotiator, Ambassador Aleksandar Andrija Pejovic, foreign ministers of France, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia, and the European Commissioner for Neighborhood policy and enlargement negotiations, Johannes Hahn.

The meeting focused on tighter linking of young people through the establishment of regional youth offices, and helped exchange views on common challenges facing Europe and the world, and the mechanisms for their effective solution.

Addressing the participants of the meeting, Pejović welcomed the holding of a summit in Paris, saying that it shows how strong the commitment to EU integration of the Western Balkans truly is.

In this regard, Mr. Pejovic especially pointed out the importance of the Berlin process and infrastructure projects linking transport and energy, and welcomed the establishment of the Regional Office for Youth, stressing that this will give a new impetus to regional cooperation, and that the exchange of ideas among young people will contribute to a better understanding of European values.

He said dialogue and cooperation in the framework of European integration proved to be a good mechanism to intensify reforms and progress.

He pointed out Montenegro’s full commitment to regional cooperation and achieving common goals of which membership in the EU has a special place.

 

“I believe we can be extremely satisfied with the results of the conference on the Western Balkans”, said Pejovic, among other things.
