PHOTO and VIDEO: Pajović: Skadar Lake to be protected than valorized

Pajović was joined by director of Montenegro National Parks Azra Vuković, director of National Park Skadar Lake Goran Škatarić and ornithologist in National Parks Nela Vešović-Dubak.

Pajović reminded that the Parliament, as the largest legislative body in the state, passes a lot of laws that pertain to environment.

“People in NP face a lot of issues. We concluded today that Skadar Lake is inexhaustible source of economic gain”, he said.

According to him, Skadar Lake deserves strong protection in order to be properly valorized.

“NP is doing all it can within its possibilities, but we need to be realistic and say that states needs to protect NP first, and later valorize natural potentials. I believe that the energy between the institutions is good in this field, and I believe that today’s meeting will improve the treatment legislation gets in legislation”, Pajović said.

He said that the laws must have practical application.

“Benefit of these visits is for representatives from the Parliament to get to know firsthand what they are dealing with, to see the possibilities and solutions, and apply that knowledge in the Parliament when it comes to passing the laws”, Pajović said.

Director of Montenegro NP Azra Vuković said that the visit from the President of the Parliament was an additional promotion for the activities on the Lake, such as birdwatching, which is a growing branch of tourism in the world.

“Skadar Lake still needs to promote this activity and that was one of the goals of this visit. We also discussed the current state in NP, its needs and activities that need to function better within the law, so that NP could work more efficiently”, Vuković said.
