The Italian sailing boat Ibrusa was the first to cross the finish line (about 200 meters from the lighthouse in the city port on the Skver), last night at about 10:30pm.

The director of the Jugole Grakalic sailing club, Predrag Vukcevic, said the favourable wind allowed about fifty ships to arrive to Kotor as early as between the midnight and 4am. A larger number of vessels continued their way to Tivat, ie to Porto Montenegro, whereas a few of them remained in Herceg Novi.

“The city port on the Skver currently lacks the capacity and infrastructure for this race and what it has grown into”, Vukcevic added, announcing cooperation between the Jugole Grakalic sailing club and the Municipality of Herceg Novi on creating a strategy for the development of the site of Skver.

As he stated, as an integral part of Herceg Novi and a longstanding sports club, it will invest efforts to develop the conceptual design for transforming the dock on the Skver into a port for nautical tourism.

As announced by the adviser for sport at the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Sports of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, Djordje Arnaut, as of tomorrow the local government, along with the sailing club and Porto Montenegro, will take the first steps in the planning and organising the 2017 regatta.

Most of the participants of the regatta EST 105 will return tomorrow from Porto Montenegro to the Skver, where they will start a new race – the first Cup of Kotor Bay.
