After the meeting, the minister and ZIKS representatives visited all organisational units of the institute: the Detention and Rehabilitation Centre (KPD), the woman department, department for juveniles, remand prison and the Facility for Short Term Prison Sentences.

They also visited the new section for juveniles, new premises for marital and family visits, as well as a new kitchen within the institute, where the works are still ongoing.

During the visit, the minister and his associates talked to detainees and prisoners as well as to ZIKS employees.

“All of us agree that the conditions in ZIKS are significantly improved. There has been serious progress in terms of accommodation, health care, and overall conditions”, the Ministry of Justice stated.

It was emphasised that compliance with international standards when it comes to exercising the rights of inmates and working conditions of ZIKS employees will be the subject of constant attention of the Ministry of Justice.
