PHOTO: Spectacular: Supermoon above Montenegro

CDM readers have sent photos of the supermoon above Niksic, Podgorica, Bar and bridge on the Tara River.

Photos from Podgorica are particularly beautiful.

The moon was large in October too, but now it is special, the biggest and brightest since 1948, ie the last 70 years. According to NASA forecast, there will not be another supermoon until 2034.

Supermoon appearance requires two things – there must be a full moon and it must be particularly close to the Earth.

The moon’s distance from Earth varies because it is in an egg-shaped, not circular, orbit around the planet. The point of the orbit closest to Earth is called perigee, while the point farthest from Earth is known as apogee.

During these few days, the moon will be special, ie supermoon, because it will be the closest to the Earth in the last several decades.
