SDP: Stay of Brajovic and Lazovic at ministerial positions casts shadow on the legitimacy of the Government

We recall that two days ago, Brajovic and Lazovic stated they are leaving the party because its Central Committee rejected their platform for preservation of party unity. After that, leader of the party Krivokapic said he expects those who left the party to return their mandates. Today, the SDP again invited Brajovic and Lazovic to return their ministerial mandates, because “they represent no one today, but themselves, and perhaps those who have been defending them these days in public”.

“We urge the losers from the Congress, Ivan Brajovic and Vujica Lazovic, to make a politically responsible and elementary honorable move and return the ministerial mandates to the SDP, instead of misleading the public”, said the statement of SDP delivered to the media.

SDP pointed out that ministers in the government do not represent the will of the people because citizens in elections do not choose ministers, but rather the will of the majority in parliament, which elects them.

“The two ministers, it is clear, do not have majority support in parliament, nor the support of the party they left after the defeat at the Congress. It was the Central Committee of the SDP who proposed them for ministerial positions, and not any other party. Therefore, they represent no one but themselves…”, emphasized the SDP.

According to them, staying on “hijacked” functions would be classically usurping and abusing these positions, which would affect NATO integration of Montenegro.

“If they do not leave, the public will know what to call those who use what is not theirs, who won’t return what they know is not theirs. Special problem is that such people would sit in the Cabinet as ministers, and minister in a democratic society has to be someone who is, at least elementary, ethically uncontroversial”, the statement said.

As the party added, the public knows after recent events that the background was only one thing – the attempt to take over and then overthrow the SDP at someone else’s account and on behalf of someone else.

“This failed “Informer project” showed the true face and true intentions of troubled individuals, who after the defeat at the party’s Congress did not even have the minimum capacity to fight for their position in the permitted statutory framework of the SDP, and who today expressed a clear intention to take from the party from which, all these years, exactly they gained the most. On the other hand, as in the nineties of the last century, the vast majority of SDP proved its rigor, firmness and incorruptibility, its readiness to be brave and to lead independent policy”, concluded the SDP.
