Serbia buys 11 percent of the electricity network of Montenegro?

Vucic said in an interview with Radio Television of Serbia that, under the measures of economic recovery, Serbia is planning to strengthen its position in the region.

“We bought a part of the electricity network in Montenegro, and plan to buy part of the shares of the Electric Power Industry of the Republic of Srpska. As for Montenegro, we are starting with 11 percent, and later, there could possibly be larger investments”, Vucic said for RTS, which was then reported by the media in Montenegro.

Back in April, Mr. Vucic announced Serbia is analyzing whether this move is actually a good move. Vucic said at the time that Serbia has special plans for its own electric power.

Last night, the CGES, in which the Government’s partner is Italian company Terna, said this is the first they hear of selling to Serbia, because there was no mention of it, as they put it – not even at the level of ideas, write today’s Vijesti daily.

“Terna couldn’t have negotiated the sale of a part of their 22 percent of shares either, not without the knowledge its partner, the Government of Montenegro, which owns 55 percent of the shares”, said the CGES.

They say they know that there was interest in a part of EPCG’s shares owned by Italian A2A, but for now, it is agreed that A2A will remain in the Electric Power Company of Montenegro.
