VIDEO and PHOTO: Prince Charles fascinated by the beauty of Montenegro; he commended its contribution to peace

On behalf of the government and on his own behalf, PM Djukanovic thanked the Prince of Wales for his visit our country in the year when we celebrate the first decade since restoration of Montenegro’s independence and the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries.

He said that the visit of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to Montenegro and countries in the region would contribute to the further improvement of relations with Great Britain.

“The prime minister pointed to the dynamic economic and democratic development of Montenegro and its progress towards NATO and the EU, adding he was pleased because our country was recognised as a reliable partner in the consolidation and promotion of European and Euro-Atlantic values ​​in the region,” the government stated.

At the same time he thanked for the overall bilateral support of Great Britain to Montenegro and an excellent cooperation in various fields, particularly when it comes to rule of law and reform of the armed forces and defence sector. He also noted that the government was committed to developing economic relations and creating favourable conditions for attracting British tourists and investors.

The Prince of Wales said he was satisfied to visit Montenegro after so many years.

He commended its progress and Montenegro’s contribution to strengthening peace and stability.

Prince Charles with Krivokapic: I am fascinated by Montenegro’s natural beauty

The Speaker of the Parliament Ranko Krivokapic and Prince Charles agreed about the importance of a strong and operational Parliament in order to provide a true system of checks and balances, which was particularly important for young democracies. During his meeting with Krivokapic, the Prince Charles said he was fascinated by the Montenegro’s beauty.

Krivokapic expressed his satisfaction with the visit of Prince Charles of Wales to Montenegro, pointing its importance for the further improvement of good bilateral relations between Montenegro and the United Kingdom.

“He informed the Prince Charles on the political situation in the country, particularly emphasising the upcoming general elections,” Krivokapic’s cabinet stated.

Krivokapic presented the Parliament’s work to the prince, paying special attention to the work of parliamentary committees and parliamentary hearings.

“Presenting the glorious and long history of Montenegro, the Parliament Speaker stated that since the period of King Nikola, Montenegro has developed multi-culturalism and multi-ethnicity, by which we have been recognised in the region today,” it was said in the statement.

He pointed out that this made an additional value which Montenegro would bring as a contribution to NATO and EU accession.

The Prince of Wales said he was satisfied with the visit to Montenegro, noting that he has been re-enchanted by the Montenegro’s nature beauty. He recalled his first visit in 1978, when he had a chance to learn about the natural and cultural richness of Kotor.

He pointed out that Montenegro had a favourable geographical position and the country should take advantage of that fact.

The prince expressed particular interest in the Montenegrin history, as well as on European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro.
