Mr. Žugić, who served as prime minister’s consultant, was elected governor of CBM on the proposal of the President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanovic, reports Mina business.
A total of 42 deputies from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Positive Montenegro and minority parties voted to elect him, while no one was against.
The deputies of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Socialist People’s Party (SNP), the Democratic Front (DF) and several independent representatives left the session, held in Cetinje, during the debate on previous items.
Certain opposition MPs asked president Vujanovic to withdraw his proposal to appoint Žugić.
Vujanovic’s office explained that the extraordinary session of the Assembly is necessary because the mandate of the former governor of Central Bank of Montenegro, Milojica Dakic, expires on October 14th, and his deputy, Nikola Fabris, on October 21st.
Mr. Žugić already served as governor of CBM, from 2010 to 2012, after which he was appointed Minister of Finance.
