Implementation of this project has been enabled by the donation of the People’s Republic of China.
The contractor, the company “Bemaks” will reconstruct sidewalks for free and cyclists, in addition to pedestrians, will begin to use them soon.
As Mr Djekovic explained, the path is to be 5.320m long – from the King’s Park and the Hilton hotel, across the boulevards of St. Peter of Cetinje and Mihailo Lalic, to the crossroads with the street of Vlada Cetkovica near the market “Voli” in the settlement of Tolosi.
The Manager of the Capital said that Podgorica had optimal conditions for the development of cycling due to its relief. Therefore the local government set it in the focus of its activity.
“Bike paths will not only contribute to the improvement of transport infrastructure and reduce traffic congestion. This project will improve the quality of life in the Capital, and it is aimed at strengthening the identity of Podgorica, promoting healthy lifestyles and the concept of sustainable mobility and raising environmental awareness among citizens of all ages,” Mr Djekovic said.
As he added, the bike paths were important for the development of tourism, particularly recreation tourism.
