German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) led by Chancellor Angela Merkel is ready to continue improving cooperation with Montenegro, particularly in the use of EU funds, cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises, energy and environment. This was announced during a meeting between CDU representatives and Montenegrin minister of European affairs Aleksandar Andrija Pejovic in Podgorica.
As the ministry stated, Pejovic presented the political situation in the country and the ongoing and planned activities in the EU accession process.
“He pointed out the importance both the Germany’s bilateral support to Montenegro in several negotiating chapters and support in the framework of the Berlin process contributing to better and more efficient implementation of the commitments and intensifying the EU accession process,” the statement said.
The officials congratulated Pejovic for Montenegro’s progress to NATO accession and conveyed the full support of Germany in the EU accession process, pointing out that in the coming period it will continue expert support in order to provide better and more efficient implementation of commitments in the negotiation chapters.
