Montenegro citizens have much to celebrate this year as new findings from leading global mobility intelligence platform The Passport Index show Montengrans will be freer to travel the world than ever before, once Covid-related restrictions are lifted.
The Montengran passport reached new heights in this year’s Passport Index, moving up 4 spots to claim the 34th rank; whilst the number of countries which passport holders can visit without a pre-arranged visa has risen to an impressive 123. This is a stark increase from the 2015 rankings, in which Montenegro finished with the 41st rank with citizens limited to only 102 nations without a visa.
Despite only being independent for 14 years, the data suggests Montengran passport is also rapidly closing in on Serbia’s, with Serbians only able to visit 11 countries more visa free than Montengran citizens.
To date no Montenegro visa arrangements or policies with other countries have been cancelled, and all Covid-related restrictions are temporary. A strong bounceback for international travel is expected soon.
The Passport Index is available online and also as a mobile app., and updates in real time.
The passport index measures the passports of 193 United Nations member countries and 6 territories (ROC Taiwan, Macao (SAR China), Hong Kong (SAR China), Kosovo, Palestinian Territory and the Vatican) – a total of 199 are considered.
Data is based on official information provided by governments, updated in real-time with intelligence obtained through crowdsourcing and enhanced with proprietary research from highly credible sources.
