Banks claim they don’t charge loan processing fee twice

Banks don’t charge the loan processing fee twice, and there is no room for that, either, says the secretary general of the Association of Banks, Bratislav Pejakovic.

He explains that on the occasion of calculating effective interest rate, only costs that can be predicted at the time of negotiation are taken into account.

Banking ombudsman Halil Kalac earlier said that banks calculated the processing loan fee twice – as the fee based on agreement as well as within the nominal interest rate. This cost is about 1.5% of the total sum borrowed.

Due to this fee, Serbian Appellate Court issued a final verdict in favour of the clients of banks at the end of last year.
