When we win, the state flag – the Montenegrin tricolor with the imprinted coat of arms – and the Podgorica flag will be flying over the city, this is what the then leader of the SNP list and current leader of the Democrats and the Parliament Speaker, Mr Aleksa Bečić, told ahead of the Podgorica local elections back in May 2014.
Social media users reminded of this statement after it was revealed that Mr Bečić congratulated Mr Glauk Konjufca on taking over as Kosovo’s speaker of the parliament.
Mr Bečić also failed to inform the Montenegrin public about the congratulatory message, but the parliament in Kosovo published it on its website.
His move provoked strong reactions of the Serbian media.
Mr Aleksa Bečić left the Socialist People’s Party, SNP, and set up the Democratic Montenegro on 19 April 2015.
