Beggars to be prevented from spreading virus

Public utility inspection will engage in addressing the problem of beggars who keep begging for money in the streets of Podgorica despite orders.

Mayor of Podgorica, Mr Ivan Vuković, promised Isen Gaši, president of the Council of Roma people, that public utility inspection would definitely deal with this problem.

Secretary for social welfare, Mr Ivan Terzić, said that beggars should be removed from streets.

“that’s not within our competence, but they definitely should not be there as they could transmit coronavirus or contract it”, Mr Terzić said.

He points out that Secretariat for Social Welfare was not in charge of homeless people either.
