Bošković: Montenegro continues to fulfill its tasks within NATO agenda even in the circumstances of the pandemic

Even in the circumstances of the pandemic, Montenegro continues to fulfill its NATO tasks, improve its abilities, in order to remain relevant factor in the modern security environment, Minister of Defense, Mr Predrag Bošković, said during two-day meeting of the North-Atlantic Council in the format of defense ministers.

Mr Bošković emphasized the importance of constant adaptation to complex NATO security challenges, which requires a certain level of the flexibility of the Alliance.

Mr Bošković and Mr Jens Stoltenberg stated that COVID-19 crisis had shown that NATO is flexible and ready to implement all planned activities and maintain the credibility of the overall defense policy.

They also stated that process of mutual consultations had not been brought into question and that allies had managed to maintain unhindered decision-making process at the level of the Alliance.

Ministers expressed satisfaction with overall dynamics in the implementation of measures for reinforcing deterrence and defense.

They emphasized the importance of strengthening resistance both at the level of the Alliance and at national level, in order to provide adequate and timely response to a wide spectrum of security challenges.

In the forthcoming period, the emphasis shall be put on the activities that will enable further strengthening of the Alliance at political and military level, which will contribute to successful adaptation to changes and ensure preservation of NATO values.

Mr Bošković stressed that our country was committed to adhering to the decisions rendered at the Summit in Wales.

Minister took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the announced NATO donation to Montenegro in the form of medical equipment.
