Bosniak Party celebrates membership in the EPP

Last night Bosniak party celebrated membership in the European People’ Party (EPP), the most numerous political group in the European Parliament.

BP leader, Mr Rafet Husović, said that his party had always been state-forming, pro-European and pro-Western party.

“We strongly supported our country’s European path through the adoption of democratic standards, strengthening institutions, rule of law and freedom of media. We are aware that it is our only way. We have recognized NATO integration as our essential state interest, as the only security framework that guarantees Montenegro’s stability”, said Mr Husović .

He pointed out that commitments of the BP had been visionary.

“There was no need for us to change political program. Preservation of multi-ethnic stability is our crucial interest. Two times, in 2012 and in 2016, BP decided about the government in Montenegro. Those were historic political decisions”, said Mr Husović.

BP strongly supports political dialogue in Montenegro and firmly believes that dialogue can be hold in the institutions only.

“Current topic concerning electoral legislation in Montenegro is a very important issue for us. We believe that EPP membership is very important for our party. That’s partnership with the most influential European political organization but it’s also more than that. We will stay committed to cherishing ideals of democracy, individual freedom, protection of personal freedoms, social justice, rule of law and preservation of political values”, said Mr Husović in his address.

Mr Patrick Voller, EPP’s international secretary, said that he was sure BP would continue to fight for our common values – rule of law, fight against corruption, independence of judiciary and freedom of media.
