Brčvak: 13 July award handed out to right people

A humanitarian, Mr Hajriz Brčvak, addressed the public in the 13 July award’s message, noting the award should be handed out to somebody who was on the frontlines in the fight against the coronavirus, i.e. people who risked their lives to protect others.

He thus congratulated the winners of the award, Mr Ranko Lazović, Mr Živko Andrijašević and the Public Health Institute and pointed out that there were offers for his nomination but he declined them all.

“Many people asked me to send a certificate of nationality in order to be able to nominate me for the award and thus meet all the requirements. I refused it for two reasons. The first one is that I’ve already received enough awards from both institutions and you, my fellow citizens. Secondly, I think the award should be handed out to frontline workers during the coronavirus epidemic, who risked their lives and of their families to protect us. And that wasn’t me.”

We are to face a second wave of the virus, he added, urging citizens to unite and fight this invisible enemy.
