President of the Municipality of Budva, Mr Marko Carević, noted that burning incense in the municipal building represented the ritual and the premises actually underwent “disinfection, disinsection and demonization”.
“I did it for 5.700 voters who backed the block For the Future of Montenegro. It was done for every worshipper who belongs to a church and knows the canon law. If you ask me, it’s completely normal. It’s difficult to talk to people who are not worshippers,” Mr Carević told RTV Budva.
After everything that was happening in Budva, this gesture was quite suitable, according to him. Mr Carević touched on the attacks of certain parties, primarily those from the civic URA movement.
“It’s strange that we hear something like that from URA. You could see their leader visiting Ostrog monastery and that was okay, as they were negotiating over posts in the govt. I don’t see why there’s so much fuss about a priest coming to a municipal building. It’s allowed and I believe everyone can do the same,” Mr Carević underlined.
