Carine to build third luxury hotel in Herceg Novi

Kumbor

Carine company, owned by Čedo Popović, is going to build the third high-end&200-room hotel in Herceg Novi. Preparatory works in Kumbor on the parcel already owned by this company, and on the one for which this company signed a long-term lease agreement with the Metropolitanate of Montenegro-Littoral, start as of Monday, says Mr Popović.

The parcel owned by the Metropolitanate, i.e. the Church Committee of Kumbor (surface of the parcel is 2,000 m²) also includes ‘Šumadija’ camp having 32 camping houses, mostly owned by Serbia citizens. These people were informed they should move out last year. So far, one third of houses have been removed, whereas one part of owners engaged lawyers in order to get the appropriate compensation for 50 years of their investing in those homes.

Mr Popović, on the other hand, says his company has been pretty much attentive and extended the deadlines for their moving out. “They were timely informed about the deadlines and most of them have already left, while several more houses are going to be removed by the end of this week. This all is just about one man who doesn’t want to leave and who misuses other owners of houses. The truth is that their contracts haven’t been extended, the camp itself was illegal and that we signed the agreement with the Metropolitanate,” Popović told resolutely.
