CCE loses control over the PBS

The “revised version” of the contract between the Center for Civic Education (CCE) and the Public Broadcasting Service shows that RTCG did not clearly define CCE’s rights in terms of support with implementation of the EU-funded media project. For this reason, an annex has been added that stipulates that this non-governmental organization has no editorial control over the content that the PBS is preparing, investigating, broadcasting or publishing.

The contract caused public controversy over allowing the non-governmental organization to directly interfere with the editorial policy of RTCG. Namely, the contract stipulated that the contents of the “Replica”, “Frame” and “TV Magazine” (mne. Replika, Okvir, TV Magazin) broadcasts cannot be broadcast without the CCE’s written consent, which is why the Agency for Electronic Media requested the insight into the contract as well.

Commenting on the amended contract, the member of the RTCG Council, Mr. Dusko Draskovic, told Dnevne Novine daily that the annex was only a confirmation that the contract “was harmful” and that the whole issue could have been easily avoided, had the material been sent to the legal department in the first place.
