Outgoing PM Dritan Abazovic has announced today that the state is willing to buy and/or rent ferries from the Maritime Transport company, owned by the Ban brothers.

According to him, if there is a will, the government is ready to cooperate with Maritime Transport.

“If there is will, I don’t see a problem. It doesn’t matter if it’s Maritime Transport. (…) Why should they have parked ferries? It’s their property, they can do with it whatever they want. But if they want to rent and sell to the state, why would we go to Greece and Turkey if someone here has it”, says Abazovic.

When asked if the ferry whose purchase was announced in the following days belongs to the Maritime Transport or someone else, Abazovic has said that anyone is free to apply, including Maritime Transport.

“The tender is ongoing, I don’t know. I have a meeting with the Agency for the Coastal Zone Management, I’ll ask them. Anyone who applies is welcome… We want to buy, not rent, ferries from Greece, which will belong to us, to the state of Montenegro”, states Abazovic.

He adds that it is a fact that there are crowds on the ferry. He has invited those who criticize to say who the real owners of “their” hotels are.

“Now even the biggest pessimists are saying that it will be a good season”, he claims.

“We need to have a bigger fleet and introduce a new route… you should know that the state has saved citizens €1.5m-€2m”, says Abazovic.
