Company “Plantaže 13.Jul” plans to collect 564.000 kg of peach, whereas the projected yield of grapes ( cardinal sort) is more than two tons for this season. There are enough workers so far, but since the harvest of wine grapes starts soon, the company will need around 800 workers.
Simo Boljević, coordinator in the vineyard and fruit production, said that cardinal harvest started on July, 5, and that around 70 workers are engaged in that work. He points out though that they would need more workforce soon.
Boljević said that all workers coming from another town will be provided with food and malong with the pretty reasonable salary. A worker on Ćemovsko polje can earn 30 EUR and more per day.
“When it comes to grapes, an average worker can collect 60 to 70 crates which contain 7 kg of grapes. The crate is 40 cents and therefore the average salary is from 25 to 30 EUR, but some workers can collect even more” ,said Boljević.
Workers are satisfied with conditions. Workforce in the harvest of peach is from our country mostly whereas people from the surrounding region come to harvest grapes.
