In case when a doctor makes some mistake during the medical treatment process, the compensation has so far been paid by the doctor or a nurse who made the mistake. However, in the future, judging by the information provided by the Trade union of Doctors, this organization will pay the money for the doctors who are its members via an insurance company.
The President of the Trade union, Milena Popović-Samardžić, says that they are currently negotiating with an insurance company. The proposed amount is 20.000 EUR per doctor.
“In case a doctor makes a mistake or an omission, the material compensation is requested. Sometimes even directly from the doctor. The task of healthcare institutions is to provide insurance for their employees. We have been trying to solve this problem in the Trade union but the offers of the insurance companies were very high. Now we’ve go the offer of 1,5 EUR on a monthly basis and these expenses will be covered by the Trade union”, says Popović-Samardžić.
