Submarine cable between Montenegro and Italy will be ready for the commercial use in the first half of the next year.
“The project is going according to plan. I believe that by the end of next year we will put the cable into use. This project has strategic importance since it is the first interconnection of Montenegro and Italy with Europe. The project will contribute to the development of infrastructure in the region and it will stimulate growth in the tourism sector”, said Luigi Ferraris, CEO of Italian company “Terna”.
President of “Terna”, Catia Bastioli said that Đukanović’s visit to Italy is of historical importance for the relations between the two countries and it is a great honor for “Terna”. The project which is going to be implemented is the result of strong bilateral cooperation between Montenegro and Italy and Agreement on the Strategic Cooperation.
“Submarine cable is the energetic bridge which connects Italy with the Balkans. It is beneficial for the both countries and the entire region of Balkans”, said Bastioli.
Đukanović said that both sides have reasons to be proud since this project represents more than the cooperation of companies and the two countries.
“Submarine cable is one of the key links for integrating region into Europe, because it is crucial to improve connections in the area of transport, energy and IT. We can clearly see the completion of this project and we can be proud that we established one important connection in the process of the strategic integration of Balkans”, said Đukanović.
