Construction on the highway intensified

Construction on the highway Bar-Boljari has been focused on tunnels in the previous period, while this month, most of the construction was done on open tracks and bridges, said director of Monteput, Goran Vujovic.

During the Friday session of Board of construction assosciations and industry of construction materials of Chamber of Commerce, he said that CRBC has hired 76 companies on the construction so far, 67 of them from Montenegro.

“In accordance with the Contract, 30% of the construction should be allocated to Montenegrin force, and that percentage will be even higher. So far, 29,56% of total value of construction has been done by Montenegrin companies”, statement published on the Chamber of Commerce website reads.

Vice president of the Chamber of Commerce Stanko Zlokovic said that the Chamber will continue to have an active role in the construction and it will insist on national workforce both in planning and construction.

Representative of Fidija company Miodrag Vucetic said that usage of national resources in such infrastructural projects is a necessity, underlining the possibility of using marl from Coal mine Pljevlja as a base for cement, which would decrease import of cement.

Zlokovic reminded of Chamber’s role in finding and fostering competitiveness of Montenegrin companies through cooperation with state institutions, most of all Customs. He believes that we should look up to developed countries of EU.

The Chamber of Commerce is preparing a document that will help the Customs determine the quality of imported goods and determine realistic tax for them.

“We are also preparing date on producers of construction materials in Montenegro”, the statement reads.

Montenegro’s problems with export to foreign markets were also discussed, with special focus on extensive documentation necessary. The Board adopted Information on construction sector business affairs in the past year, adding that the value of works was in the amount of 382,6 million EUR, which is 31% more than in 2015.

During the last year, we have seen an increase in import of iron, steel, concrete and cement.

The Board also discussed Action plan of Directorate for public works for this year.

Representatives of this Government unit that implements projects from capital budget said that during the last year the Directorate implemented 28 million EUR of resources, 88% allocated from capital budget. This year, they have a plan of implementing 76 projects in the value of 58,88 million EUR.

Vucetic said that there is a problem in that a part of capital budget resources is not implemented due to procedures tied with public procurements.

Zlokovic said that the Law on Public Procurements will soon be amended, which will remove business barriers. New documents that regulate that area are set to be adopted next year.
