Contemporary Montenegro has everything it needs

Branko Banjević

Montenegro has never been in a better position than it is nowadays. Montenegro of today represents synthesis of all hard efforts devoted over the past years, which have been its historical, political, cultural, scientific, moral and economic result.  As such, we are an obstacle to those scrambling to introduce slavery in the Balkans, Branko Banjević, a writer, told the weekend edition of Dnevne Novine daily.

Banjević, known for his commitment to the country’s sovereignty and dignity of our culture, emphasized he hasn’t been worried so much about the current state of play.

“I might be boring as I repeat this often, but the fact is that Montenegro has never been in a better position than it is now. Not so long time ago, nothing was ours, and today everything belongs to us. Our country is a NATO member state, has a steady EU perspective, and it’s the United Nations member as well… Montenegro of today has everything a contemporary sovereign country, committed to its own economic, cultural and democratic development, needs,” underlined Banjević.

Commenting on the statement that a part of the Serbian church circles announced “extraordinary celebration” of the Podgorica Assembly, he said he has heard about it but hasn’t been surprised by the news at all.

He also reflected on the elite tourism by stating that it actually saved Montenegrin economy. “I really believe so. Trade union tourism was not in our own interest but it served as the basis for robbing Montenegro and its values were greatly violated. Nothing was ours. And today, everything belongs to us. Our people will be recruited in Porto and Luštica Bay, people from all over the world will come to our country, invest in our development and that is how we’re going to connect with the world. We won’t stagnate any more,” said Banjević.
