Montenegrin head of diplomacy Srdjan Darmanovic presented medals to three US officials in Washington yesterday. Darmanovic presented the medals in the US Congress Library to Joseph Biden, former US Vice President, Congressman Mike Turner and Senator John McCain.
They received the Order of the Great Montenegrin Star for their contribution in improving the relations between Montenegro and the USA and Montenegro’s international position.
Biden said he was honoured to have received the decoration and said he was interested in the Balkans since he became a Senator. He also said that without the Western Balkans’ full integration both Europe and USA wouldn’t be completely secure.
Biden said that Montenegro was now a NATO member, under the protection of Article 5 of the North-Atlantic Treaty. He said that Russians didn’t remain blind to that.
Biden stressed that Montenegro chose democracy and the rule of law, as well as difficult reforms.
