Gjenero: Mirna Nikčević’s right – SPC is protecting infrastructure of Great Serbia

Davor Đenero

NATO membership already acts as a kind of deterrent, a means of intimidating and deterring those who question Montenegro’s sovereignty, Croatian political analyst, Davor Gjenero, told CdM. After all, he added, Serbia’s President, Aleksandar Vučić, admitted it, saying that under current circumstances he cannot solve problems with military troops, and could not hide his regret at ‘the good old times’, i.e. the era of Slobodan Milošević’s ruling.

“Former Montenegrin diplomat, Mirna Nikčević, is quite right when she claims that the SPC serves to protect the infrastructure of Greater Serbia, which it proved with all these litanies across the country. However, neither Vučić dared to cross the border of Montenegro on Christmas, nor would Irinej Gavrilovic dare to do so, though he announced it,“ Mr Gjenero was adamant.

He also noted that external attacks have never been useful when it comes to the EU negotiations.

“The European Union is only an indirect mechanism for ensuring security, through the affirmation of the rule of law. The security aspect of Euro-Atlanticism is achieved with the assistance of the NATO Alliance,” he concluded.
