In case of bank bankruptcy or liquidation, a guaranteed deposit amounts to EUR 50,000 until Montenegro joins the European Union (EU) despite law amendments stipulating it would be even EUR 80,000 in specific cases, the Deposit Protection Fund announced.
“Suggestion is that deposits stemming from sale of real estate in which depositor lived, marriages, divorces, retirement, dismissal, invalidity, illness, death, insurance payments and compensations for victims of crime acts should be paid in the amount of up to EUR 80,000, EUR 50,000 plus EUR 30,000,” says director of the Deposit Protection Fund, Predrag Marković.
Marković also underlines that a guaranteed deposit amounts to EUR 50,000 until Montenegro accedes to the EU, regardless of exceptions afore mentioned. After MNE joins the EU, the same deposit will amount to EUR 100,000.
