DF officials called Mujovic o find them a “witness” against Katnic

Milivoje Katnić

Democratic Front (DF) officials are persistent in their attempts to discredit the chief special prosecutor Milivoje Katnic. They even addressed the shady businessman Veselin Mujovic for help, as clearly shown in the transcript of their conversation with Mujovic in a café in Podgorica, which is published at the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT) website on 17 July, Dnevne Novine writes.

DF official Predrag Bulatovic asked Mujovic about the case. This, as Dnevne Novine found out, referred to Mujovic providing help in finding a person willing to lie for money, falsely accusing Katnic of taking bribe. The false scenario was supposed to imply that Katnic took the bribe to enable a positive ruling for that person in a case.

Mujovic’s task was to contact a person from Niksic and offer them €50,000 for the false testimony.

According to the transcripts, DF leaders were and are conducting a comprehensive investigation to find compromising details against the chief special prosecutor.

So Katnić’s house in the Novi Selo village near Danilovgrad was obviously under surveillance of (for the time being) unknown people, as well as the flat in which he lives with his family in Podgorica.

Namely, the transcripts published by SDT contain a conversation between DF leaders Pedja Bulatovic and Andrija Mandic with Veselin Mujovic, in which they mention a house in Novi Selo that needs to be monitored.

Also, DF leaders in this conversation point out that this house is under construction, that it was not suitable for living for some time, but that it is not the case now.

It is mentioned that it is necessary to visit Katnic’s neighbours and find out more details about the owner of the house.

Mujovic then offers to check what the special prosecutor did in Dubrovnik battlefield in 1990s, but Mandic informs him that Nebojsa Medojevic is investigating that issue.

On 26 May, the leader of the Movement for Changes (PzP) sent a letter to the Croatian Parliament asking it to examine Katnic’s role at the Dubrovnik battlefield. As the alleged evidence for his claims, Medojevic cited a newspaper report from his press conference.

According to the SDT, these are indications that a special war is being waged against Katnic.

Since Medojevic’s letter has not produced the desired effect, a new idea of discrediting Katnic by the Front’s officials may be expected.

According to Dnevne Novine, the chief special prosecutor was monitored by persons of interest, his house in Novi Selo and his apartment in Podgorica were observed, as well as his habits, allegedly for the purpose of liquidating him.

Katnic was previously warned of such danger, which DN reported at the end of March this year. Montenegrin security services obtained information from partner services that Katnic’s murder was being prepared.

According to unofficial information, SDT possesses recordings of meetings and conversations of security officials interested in the murder of Katnic. A professional was supposed to kill him with a sniper rifle.
