“The basic idea is EU membership for all Western Balkan countries. We will support everyone, including the European political community, if that is another form that can accelerate the process of achieving membership”, Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic has stated after today’s meeting of EU and Western Balkan leaders in Brussels.
“The idea of a European political community is not a substitute for membership, but a new framework that complements the institutional relationship between the Western Balkans and the EU. It’s a framework that can help speed up the process, but the basic idea is membership for all countries of the Western Balkans”, President Djukanovic has stressed.
He has pointed out that Montenegro is interested in membership, not an “alternative to membership”.
